چکیده

We study the structure of vortex solutions in a Ginzburg–Landau system for two complex valued order parameters. We consider the Dirichlet problem in the disk in R2 with symmetric, degree-one boundary condition, as well as the associated degree-one entire solutions in all of R2. Each problem has degree-one equivariant solutions with radially symmetric profile vanishing at the origin, of the same form as the unique (complex scalar) Ginzburg–Landau minimizer. We find that there is a range of parameters for which these equivariant solutions are the unique locally energy minimizing solutions for the coupled system. Surprisingly, there is also a parameter regime in which the equivariant solutions are unstable, and minimizers must vanish separately in each component of the order parameter.

Ginzburg-landau Vortices and Mandelstam Diagrams

Some years ago, in D’Hoker and Phong (1989) studied the functional determinants of Laplacian on Mandelstam diagrams. They considered some renormalizations of the functional determinants of Laplacian on Mandelstam diagrams and explored their applications in String Theory. Recently, on quite a different subject, in Qing (1997) studied the renormalized energy for Ginzburg-Landau vortices on closed...

On the structure of fractional degree vortices in a spinor Ginzburg–Landau model

We consider a Ginzburg–Landau functional for a complex vector order parameter Ψ = (ψ+, ψ−), whose minimizers exhibit vortices with half-integer degree. By studying the associated system of equations in R which describes the local structure of these vortices, we show some new and unconventional properties of these vortices. In particular, one component of the solution vanishes, but the other doe...

Exact solutions of the 2D Ginzburg-Landau equation by the first integral method

The first integral method is an efficient method for obtaining exact solutions of some nonlinear partial differential equations. This method can be applied to non integrable equations as well as to integrable ones. In this paper, the first integral method is used to construct exact solutions of the 2D Ginzburg-Landau equation.

Ginzburg-Landau vortex dynamics with pinning and strong applied currents

We study a mixed heat and Schrödinger Ginzburg-Landau evolution equation on a bounded two-dimensional domain with an electric current applied on the boundary and a pinning potential term. This is meant to model a superconductor subjected to an applied electric current and electromagnetic field and containing impurities. Such a current is expected to set the vortices in motion, while the pinning...

Unstable manifolds and Schrödinger dynamics of Ginzburg-Landau vortices

The time evolution of several interacting Ginzburg-Landau vortices according to an equation of Schrödinger type is approximated by motion on a finite-dimensional manifold. That manifold is defined as an unstable manifold of an auxiliary dynamical system, namely the gradient flow of the Ginzburg-Landau energy functional. For two vortices the relevant unstable manifold is constructed numerically ...
